StyleTap^® Test Results

The StyleTap Platform is a Windows Mobile application that allows you to run applications designed for the Palm OS on your Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 and Smartphone devices. StyleTap uses a PC loader that allows you to install your Palm OS applications on your Windows Mobile Device. StyleTap is developed by StyleTap, Inc. and has these features and limitations:

• Supports Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 Operating Systems.
• Supports Windows Mobile Smartphone 5.0 and 6.0 Operating Systems.
• Supports Windows 2000, XP (all editions) and Windows Vista.
• Installs and runs on a Secure Digital or Compact Flash memory card or the devices main memory.
• Supports Landscape Mode on Windows Mobile devices that are equipped with this feature.
• Supports Copy/Paste function between Windows Mobile and Palm application.
• Supports beaming of Palm applications from other Palm devices or from another Windows Mobile device running StyleTap.
• Allows the user to set the Palm HotSynch Username used for registration purposes by most Palm software.
• Supports Symbol/Palm scanner applications on Windows Mobile devices with barcode scanning capabilities.
• Does Not Support the use of HotSync or other custom conduits that are used with the Palm OS.
• In some cases (depending on the resolution the Palm app was developed in), image and font distortion can't be avoided.

We are excited about StyleTap because it now allows registered users of our Palm OS software that have switched to a Windows Mobile platform to continue using their registered products, as well as all the other Palm applications that they previously used. SEDataTech is not a re-seller of, nor do we provide any support* for StyleTap. Since we provide all of our mobile software in Windows Mobile and Palm OS platforms, SEDataTech recommends the use of StyleTap if you are a registered owner of our Palm products and do not want to purchase a Windows Mobile Edition license of the same product. However, we are more excited that StyleTap will soon be releasing a version of their emulation software that will run on Symbian Powered Smartphones. StyleTap expects the Symbian Edition to be available to the public during the first quarter of 2008.

SEDataTech has tested StyleTap on several Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 emulators, Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 Phone Edition emulators and Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 Smartphone Edition emulators. We tested all of our Palm Powered products on each of the emulators and ran each software product testing each feature that is available for that product. The following list is the results of our testing:

• VCFPalm - Installed and executed without any issues, excluding IrDA printing using PalmPrint
• NVSPalm - Installed and executed without any issues, excluding IrDA printing.
• CVSPalm - Installed and executed without any issues, excluding IrDA printing.
• CTCPalm - Installed and executed without any issues, excluding IrDA printing.
• Issues Encounterd During Testing
  • Mororola Q Emulator** - Installed on emulator but generated a system error after the installation completed. Although the Windows Mobile installer reported that the installation was successful, the same system error occurred when the StyleTap launcher or any Palm application was executed. This issue appeared on 5 of 5 installation attempts.
  • Palm Treo 700w Emulator - Although the installation went without any issues, the 240x240 screen resolution of the Palm Treo caused the StyleTap splash screen to display extemely narrow and unreadable. Font and image distortion was minimal during application testing but the actual screen size was much smaller than that of the other emulators tested.

If you are interested in StyleTap, please visit their web site for a free, 14-day, full functioning evaluation edition of thier software. SEDataTech strongly recommends that you install and use the evaluation edition of StyleTap and test your Palm software as much as possible before making any purchases.

**Installation errors occurring on the emulator does not mean that the error will occur on an actual Motorola Q Smartphone. It is advised that you install the StyleTap Trial Edition before purchasing a StyleTap license.
